Xmedia recode vs handbrake9/20/2023 ![]() Like recently I was looking to download a films theatrical cut but only found the director's cut online. Maybe some people dont care but I sure do. Basically sometimes it's hard to get hold of the exact version of the film you own. Version differences - this won't apply to everything but it definitely applies for some stuff. Usually I find they go for original quality or a bit more compression than I'd like anyway. If you're downloading you have to look around for something on roughly the level you're looking for, and hope it exists. Im the only one who knows that the encoded one is a lossy version and drives me crazy knowing it :D (i want to have the best possible quality all the time )Ĭant speak for op, but I personally have a few reasons to encode over downloading:Ĭonsistency - encoding stuff myself means that the quality is going to be the same every time (forgetting authoring quality). They all said that the encoded one is the original in terms of quality so idk. Ofc the TV is old and not support HDR correctly but still 4k and the best i have so far. Then i asked my friends and gf to tell which one has the better quality using my Sony KD-49XE7077 TV. The Source was the Avengers Endgame movie with the filesize of 55.6 Gb and the output after the second run is only 5.3 Gb (o.O). ![]() Variable Framerate instead of Constant Framerate as defaultĮncoder Profile : Auto // do i have to set to Main?!Įncoder Level : Auto // do i have to set to something else?! I used MKV as container (mainly to preserve sounds as is // passthru) and the video settings were the folowings : So the first run i made a mistake and used mp4 as container and reencoded sound too. So ive done two runs yesterday just to test things out : My method was to MakeMKV and call it a day but now i have to face reality because i dont have enough storage to rip all my collection and have to use Handbrake to encode media to reduce file size. I mean the huge Bluray movies like Avengers Endgame for example. As the title says i want to know how you guys store your ripped media?
